And now you’re eyeing all the things that could help you level up: automation, stronger systems, sharper branding, more defined offers, maybe even some paid ads.
And right on cue… your feed lights up with ads for coaches, mentors, masterminds, pre-recorded courses, you name it.
One offer stands out - maybe it’s a $3K pre-recorded course promising big results. Maybe you like the person behind it. Maybe you even won a giveaway (yay you!). Or maybe it’s a $10k coach popping up in all the Facebook groups and on your Instagram feed, giving you FOMO.
But now you’re wondering:
Is this the push I need to break through?
Am I just signing up for another pile of videos I could have found on YouTube?
Will this course or coach actually give me what I need?
Let me pour you a bevvie of your choice and tell you what I’ve learned after buying numerous BIG-ticket courses and working with multiple five-figure coaches - some good, some… well, let’s say “character-building”.
What Actually Matters Before You Spend
👉 Alignment is everything.
It’s not about whether the coach or course is “good” - it’s about whether they’re good for you right now. I’ve learned the hard way: sometimes adding more isn’t the answer. Sometimes it’s just noise. It can derail your focus, add confusion, or even send you ten steps backward - or worse, straight into burnout and shutdown.
👉 Bigger isn’t always better.
One-size-fits-all advice doesn’t cut it when you’re already an expert in your field. What worked for that coach or consultant a few years ago might not work for you today. Markets shift. You want someone who’s been in the real-life messiness themselves, who can adapt on the fly - not someone handing you the same tired roadmap they recycle for everyone.
The Real Cost Isn’t Just the Price Tag
Even if you can afford the $3K or $10K [or more] ask yourself:
What’s the cost if this doesn’t align?
Will it push you into pivots you don’t need?
Layer on strategies that don’t fit you?
Drain time and energy away from what’s actually working in your business?
Not every investment is about the money. Sometimes the real cost is the misalignment it creates - the friction, the confusion, the wasted momentum.

If you’re ready to grow, choose carefully.
Make sure you’re not just buying into someone else’s past success story.
And most importantly: trust yourself.
You are already an undeniable expert.
Courses and coaches can be amazing accelerators - when they fit.
But no program, no matter how shiny, will ever replace your own wisdom, intuition, and ability to lead your business.
